Middlesbrough 0 – Birmingham City 1
A thoroughly professional performance saw Blues return from the Riverside with all three points, reversing the humiliating result at St Andrews last month.
Birmingham City 0 – Blackburn Rovers 2
Blues were better, if not good, in a game where they were unlucky on the balance of play not to take a point.
Birmingham City 0 – Derby County 4
There are defeats. And then there are some defeats go above and beyond in terms of embarrassment and ineptitude. This was one of those as Blues handed a thumping victory to a gleeful Derby County.
Nottingham Forest 0 – Birmingham City 0
There are games which live long in the memory – cup finals won with 25-yard bicycle kicks, last-minute tap-ins to topple giants, unlikely great escape saviours deep in injury time. But, truth be told, the majority of the games are unremarkable. This was one of those, probably best filed under, ‘Instantly Forgettable’.
Birmingham City 1 – Middlesbrough 4
And it all started so well. Blues fell to pieces allowing a Middlesbrough side to not have to do very much to take home a resounding win. Like at Cardiff the other night, most fingers will be pointed at the defence, this time with added goalkeeping blunders thrown in for good measure.
Cardiff City 3 – Birmingham City 2
Another game on the treadmill that is the Championship at the moment resulted in Blues falling to defeat to the odd goal in five in an eventful, roller-coaster kind of a game at the Cardiff City stadium.
Birmingham City 0 Watford 1
Blues fell to a disappointing defeat, conceding a late, contentious penalty in a generally dull game at the Trillion etc.
Reading 1 Birmingham City 2
Blues continued their miraculous revival as they took three points home from Berkshire. They were indebted to a fine Neil Etheridge penalty save as the ref tried his best to rob us of the victory that a very slick first half warranted.
Bristol City 0 Birmingham City 1
An excellent and well-deserved win for Blues at their happy hunting ground of Ashton Gate in Bristol.
Birmingham City 1 Barnsley 2
A fair result as the Tykes took the three points home to Yorkshire after yet another bitterly disappointing evening at St Andrew’s.
