They say that if you change one part of a system that the change isn’t always immediate and isn’t always the one you’d imagine.
I was thinking about this as I watched the other Birmingham team put seven past Liverpool and grumpy-chops’ Spurs run in six at Old Trafford.
Stoke 1 – Blues 1
A point at Stoke is good, particularly if you compare it with the abject display at the BET 365 at the end of last season. But any game that you’re winning with five to go that you end up drawing feels like a disappointment.
Blues 1 – Rotherham 1
Blues failed one of their early season tests as they drew with Rotherham in an unpacked St Andrews. New team, familiar shortcomings as they failed to score from open play in a game where the onus was on them to take the game to the opposition – a trait seen far too often in the last few years.
Swansea 0 – Blues 0
Good point in south Wales, the kind you would have settled for beforehand, as Blues held a talented Swansea side to a goalless draw.
Blues 1 – Brentford 0
Plenty of positives as Blues started a second successive campaign with a one – nil win over a Brentford side who had more of the ball and more of the chances.
Blues 0 – Cambridge 1
.Few signs of improvement in Aitor Karanka’s first competitive game in charge which saw Blues, as per usual, going out in the first round of the League Cup.
Blues 3 – Walsall 0
Yes, with a couple of exceptions, it was the ressies, yes it was a Walsall side heavily featuring the Trialist brothers, but a win’s a win. And, in the end, it was emphatic.
Blues 1 – Derby 3
As predicted, Blues were unable to save themselves from relegation, relying on others’ inadequacies to get them over the line as Derby ran out undeserved winners in the last game of yet another horror season.
